About Previous MDP
In May 2017, Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU) launched its first Management Development Program (MDP) in Implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS). With the Indian civil aviation sector expected to witness expansive growth, the knowledge of Safety Management Systems has become indispensable for young professionals for ensuring compliance with safety standards.
The program was designed in line with the requirements understood during workshops conducted with industry stakeholders and was ideal for middle-level management personnel from regulatory authorities, air operators, airport operators, cargo logistics operators, air navigation service providers, maintenance service providers, and ground service providers. The University offered this course as a 5-day full-time programme from 29 May to 2 June 2017, delivered by international faculty with expertise in developing and implementing aviation standards.
The course curriculum was based on Annex 19 to the Chicago Convention and ICAO Document 9859, covering the design and development of Safety Management Systems (SMS), safety measurement, maintenance and control, and change management processes. It provided a platform for active exchange of ideas on global best practices and growth challenges in the Indian aviation sector.
Each year, RGNAU reviews programmes offered in previous years and identifies new programmes suited for industry needs. The MDPs cover all functional areas and help executives transition across roles and develop their leadership and personality skills.
Programme Benefits
- Assess the current degree of implementation in your organization and deploy an SMS implementation plan.
- Apply ICAO’s safety management concepts and processes to your SMS.
- Manage the SMS implementation workload and deliverables for each stage of your plan.
- Engage in benchmarking, networking, and strategic discussions with other professionals.
